ANCIENT GLASS
The first thought that comes to my mind when I look at these ancient glass bottles is formed as a question:

What was the content in these mysterious containers? What did the ancients use them for?

Perfumes, cosmetics, creams, essential oils, medicine, compounds intended for magic use, or even poison?

I am not a glass expert, but during my years of traveling, I could not help collecting these small wonders displayed below. Now at mature age, I am willing to sell them, so they can continue their fragile travel through time and hopefully end up in some home where they are appreciated.

Most of these small glass bottles are sourced from the Middle East to far away Bactria in what is nowadays known as Afghanistan. They do not represent fine art. They far more bear witness to an ancient everyday life along the silk roads where even ordinary people could afford the little luxury of having a bottle of perfume or the like.

The perfumes or other mysterious substances that once filled these bottles have evaporated long ago. However, the spirit is still there.
I can smell it!

Ancient Glass 1

In order to be wise, we must realize that we do not know much. Socrates proclaimed: I seem, then, in just this little thing to be wiser than this man at any rate, that what I do not know I do not think I know either.

More than 2000 years later, Roosevelt said: Never underestimate a man who overestimates himself. As I see it, the most dangerous overestimation is created in the unawareness of what we do not know. In fact, the world is, to a large extent, ruled by such mindsets.

Therefore I will refrain from writing in detail about the history of glass making and refer to the site Historyofglass.com
